I’ve probably traveled more this year than any other year in my life. Here are the cities I’ve traveled to: Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York City, Kabul, Dubai, Karachi, Pittsburgh, and Chicago (home base). And here’s what’s coming up: Mombasa, Nairobi, and possibly a couple more U.S. cities. As a result, I’ve learned more this year than any other year in the past.

The top 5 reasons you should travel frequently, for longer periods of time:

1. Learn to live light. What if I told you that you’ve won a vacation to sunny California, only if you could pack up and leave for the airport in 30 minutes…could you do it? Do you sense excitement or stress?
2. Learn to be alone and love it. What if you had an entire weekend to yourself in a new city – What would you eat? What would you want to see?
3. Learn to adjust. What if you didn’t have a gym nearby? What if you couldn’t get your morning coffee or tea the way you like anymore?
4. Learn to send love. What if you really miss your family? How would you let them know that you’re thinking of them when you are not physically there?
5. Learn to be yourself. How would you structure your days if you didn’t have to answer to anyone? What if you didn’t have anyone else telling you what you should be doing?

Go on, take that trip you’ve been dreaming of.

Safe travels,
